Security updates
How long your device is supported
We will provide security updates for the vploq device until 31 December 2031.
That date is a minimum, not a plan to stop. We may extend it, and if we do we will say so here. We will not bring it forward.
The date is the same for every vploq device, whenever you bought it. It is not counted from your purchase, so you do not have to work anything out: look at the date above.
What a security update is
A security update is a change to the software on your device that closes a way someone could misuse it. It is not a new feature, and you never pay for it.
The first one may arrive during setup. New devices often ship on older firmware, and if yours does, the app brings it up to date before you finish — keep it powered and connected and it carries on by itself. Setting up your vploq covers that step.
After that, you start each update. The vploq app shows a New Firmware Available card on the device, and a five-second press and hold begins it. The device installs on its next check-in rather than on the spot, and installing restarts it, which briefly drops anything connected through it — that is why it takes a deliberate press rather than a tap. Your device is the full account, including what the app shows if an update fails.
What happens after that date
Your device keeps working. It does not switch off, expire, or stop connecting when that date passes, and nothing about your account changes.
What stops is us issuing new security updates for it. From then on, a newly discovered weakness in the device software may not be fixed. That is the whole of the difference, and it is the reason the date is published: so it is your decision, made in advance, rather than something you find out later.

This page is about security updates only. It is not your warranty and it does not limit any right you have under consumer law, which may last longer than the period above and is unaffected by it.
